I have finished my OT attachment! And am finally on 3 weeks holiday! (: YAY! (:
Actually, the last week is needed to revise and memorise and prepare for my final attachment, known as PRCP and its 3 months long with weekends and night shifts.
Thus, the holiday is actually a 2 week holiday with the illusion of it being a 3 week holiday. hahaha. Thank God i have something called a holiday! I shall certainly not compare or complain because holidays are priviledges i shall pretty soon no longer have. :/ So, thank God for this much needed holiday! :D
OT was a really nice attachment as we are students (: OT will be a very very very stressful place for a new staff nurse and i seriously doubt my ability to survive there. haha. Xiong ge, ni de hao jie sao, wo kan wo bu xing!
In the ward as a new staff nurse, it would be 'sei jai lat' but in the OT, it would be 'siao liao'.
I might suffer in the ward but i predict something close to torture in the OT. Or A&E. These two areas, are out of my choice, chop stamp and guarantee unless a voice booms from heaven.
OT is so specialised that we are almost clueless and thus the staff have to guide us (: managed to scrub in for one minor case and the staff nurse was telling me every single instrument to pass next to the surgeon. Luckily, we are so blessed that NUH staff are very nice to teach us (:
Overall it was a very interesting, different and also rather queasy experience. haha. Got to see one caesarean case! The first and only other time that i watched a baby being born, was through natural delivery, assisted with forceps. As always with deliveries, it is way more drama than you expect. And after the baby is born, the feeling is incredible (:
~For a spell or two, No one seems forlornThis comes to passWhen a child is born~ (:God, bless me to spend my hols fruitfully (:
