Pandora's Box
~Once upon a time, in a faraway neverland, lived a beautiful princess. Her hair was as long as the sound of honey. Her skin was cake-warm. She smelt of biscuit and caramel and her eyes were lemonade bright.
One day, a butterfly, its wings as blue as the sound of sadness, landed gently upon her shoulder. "O princess," it whispered, its voice light as a spider's breath, "I have some terrible news for you."
"Tell me your terrible news, O butterfly," sang the princess, as she stroked his wings with cloud soft fingers. "Hope is dead. I have searched the world, O princess," replied the butterfly.
"I have searched high and low, the murky depths of the deepest ocean and the dizzy peaks of the highest mountain, the furthest sands of the hottest deserts and the iciest reaches of the frozen poles, and I cannot find hope. Hope is dead, O princess, quite dead." And the butterfly shivered as it cried in the cold, empty air.
The princess smiled again. "Do not fear, gentle butterfly. I have a secret. I am going to have a baby. And in my baby lie all my hopes, all the hopes of the whole wide world. And you will see that we will all live happily ever after because that is the way we will make it be."~
